Advice needed on direct-to-TV cable hookup Can't Post

I recently called the cable company to cancel my digital cable service. When the guy came out to pick up the box, he decided not to turn off my service; he only took the cable box. He said if I wanted I could hook up the cable directly to the TV and continue to receive cable.
Problem: the channels don't come in as clearly now (I have a Panasonic 42-in HDTV plasma). Is there something I can do to get the channels in as clear as when the cable ran through the cable box? It was an HDTV box.

No, not a chance. The cable you usually recieve through a box is either digital or HD. You stated that it was an HD box, although I'm sure most of your channels were digital. What you get straight out of the cable is an unconverted analog signal. So, you are going to have four times worse picture as you did when you had HD, and twice as bad picture as when you had digital cable. I'd go back, there's no sense in spending all that money for an HD tv just to watch analog cable on it. That's why the tech didn't care, analog sucks.
