No Prob Well, first off, where you think the lines are grounded, check to see if there is a splitter in between the outlets and in the basement. If there is, make sure the line coming from the basement is going into the "Line In" or "In" on the splitter, and the 2 lines running out are hooked up to the "output". It almost sounds like the splitter is backwards. Also, check back in about 15 - 20 minutes, I am drawing up a diagram right now, and I will post the link when I am finished. If your house is too far away, ask them if they will run a RG11 cable from the tap to the house, and that should clear up the issue with the amps. See, with cable, it's wierd, but if there isn't enough signal, the cable won't work; but also, if there is too much signal, the cable won't work either. I know on our cable system, we have a 20db window that we can play with, from -10db to 10db, but the optimal signal is 0db. I don't know if this makes any sense, but I'm going to try to explain it. A line amplifier boosts the signal +15db. I'm going to take a guess on some of these levels, but hopefully, you'll see what I am trying to say Signal out of the tap +20db (+20db) Line Amp +15 (+35db) Line Amp +15 (+50db) 225 Feet RG6 Cable Outside -22db (approx) (+28db) 15 Feet RG6 Cable Inside -2db (approx) (+26db) 2 way splitter -3.5db (+22.5db) I am just throwing an example out there on what it could be. Even after the two way splitter, your signal is still +12.5db higher than it should, causing major issues. Like I said, check back in about 15 minutes, and I'll have a link posted with a diagram for the wiring. I work for Time Warener Cable, and have been on the field for some time. I try to help out when I can!
