Channels and Splitting Can't Post

So I've browsed the history with the search engine and found similar problems to mine but no solution.

The TV I have is old, and I'm honestly not sure if it's cable ready (does that mean there's a coax outlet in the back, if so then it is) but to use my DVD player I have to use and RF Modulator. We have cable in the apartment and I just noticed I don't get all the channels that they do in the main room (not sure about the other rooms). So I bought a VCR and a splitter to try and resolve the issue, but am to no avail. I think I'm either missing a cord that goes from the VCR and the RF Modulator to the TV.

I'm not exactly sure where to put the splitters and the cords to make this work, or if I should just get a newer TV.

I hope this is comprehensible,

Thanks

Sounds like your tv is too old. Unless I've misunderstood you, I can't see where you'd need a splitter. Take the cable to the vcr via coax. Then from the vcr to the RF modulator (if necessary since your vcr would have composite inputs) via coax. Then from the RF modulator to the tv via coax. that's it. Are you using a matching transformer to get the coax to hook up to the tv, or do you have an rf port (knob that a coax cable screws onto)?

If you're using a DVD player, then you should be enjoying (partially) the benefits of DVD... so that means get yourself a newer set.... even a gently used one at a cost savings. I give them away monthly.... I get so many of those 26"-27" sets with AV input/output jacks on the rear panel. Garage sales are a good starting place and they typically go for $25 or less. If you find a set with a S-video input jack on it, well that's even better.
