Digital Cable/Analog Cable Can't Post

Hello everybody. My question is simple but I just can't find the info on the net so here goes: I live in Tampabay Florida and have Brighthouse cable to my condo. In my monthly charge to the assoc. I get extended cable, which has the channels upto 99. I also am paying for Broadband Internet. My questions are as follows: Is digital cable already available to me within the house or would they have some sort of special filter on the box outside? I was under the belief that with Cable modem access that digital signal was available. If this is the case, then if I purchase a digital Cable converter/Descrambler box would I get those extra channels? Or would I have to buy special filters for this? Also as a side question does anyone know what box's work with Brighthouse? Also do they use the same box's as Time Warner? Please let me know via post or at my email address bsodcsi@yahoo.com.
Thanks Andy CrazyCrazyCrazy

Andy

As always I recommend that you contact your cable company for the service. Any channel can be made a digital channel. Digital dose several things for the cable company. It provides added security and the need for less band width. You can add several channels of digital programming to a single rf carrier or channel. These channels require a digital box that is authorized to view the channels.

Usually the only time a cable company will use a filter to block a selected band of channels from the outside of the home is if they think the customer may have an illegal box.Cool

It's incredible how everyone obviously feels that cable is to dumb to pay for, but so neccissary to break laws for.

bsodcsi - I hope this will clear up some questions

Usually, most cable companies broadcast both the analog and digital signals on the same line, but almost all TV's out there do not have the support to "unscramble" the digital feed, meaning that each cable company puts some sort of "junk", litterally, in with the digial channels, to prevent people from accessing them without a box. The box has a special "key" in it, which takes out the "junk" to give you a digital signal. I would call your cable company to find out for sure, but they should only need to put in a digital box and away you go!

Yes and No - It might work, but keep in mind that these are highly illegal, and if you are caught with a digital Cable converter/Descrambler box, you could end up in jail for 6 months, a $1,000 fine, maybe both, maybe more. The question you have to ask yourself is "Is it worth possibly ending up in jail for something like this?"

Contact Brighthouse to find out for sure

Also do they use the same box's as Time Warner?

Time Warner is mainly a Scientific Atlanta setup company. But, if Brighthouse uses Scientific Atlanta boxes as well, there is no promises that the box will work.
I work for Time Warener Cable, and have been on the field for some time. I try to help out when I can!
