Guide Plus not updating channels. Can't Post

Hello All,

I have a 19" RCA Flat Screen Guide Plus TV that is not updating channel information. Currently, I do not have a VCR or Cable connected to it.

I understand that it receives satelite updates at 2 a.m., 7 a.m., and such and the television must be turned of over nite to ensure that it will receive the signal. However, my TV is not receiving updates.

Any suggestions?

Thanks All

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. Did you figure what the problem was?

Thanks

I am having the same problem. I live in Cedar Park, TX and am connected to Time Warner Cable. Guide Plus worked fine for several years, but has not updated recentely. Any chance it's my cable company?

Just started experiencing the same problem with an RCA set with Guide Plus+. After searching several forums found one suggestion that has worked for some problems.

Go to the Guide Plus Setup. Mark USA, then enter 00000 for the zip code, answer "No", then answer "No". Hit Cancel to Abort the installation.

Then go back and enter everything including your zip. This is suppose to "RESET" the memory. Then turn the TV off for at least 12+ hours. Everything should be back...........

Good Luck!!!

Re: [Kell847] Guide Plus not updating channels. [In reply to] Can't Post

I finally found a phone number (781-276-8800) and called it today. Someone actually answered it. She sent me to Tech Support. He verified that they experienced a computer glitch last week-end that messed up some listings. He had me punch in a few numbers to get another screen. This screen said my "download channel" was 25, a PBS channel. I told him I didn't have that channel as a choice. My PBS channel is 28, out of Columbus, GA. I can receive both channels (25 is South, 28 is North--where my antenna is pointed). He said I might have to change my ZIP CODE to a city South of me to obtain access to 25. Said it was nothing he could do to change the "download channel". I told him I would try that.

After hanging up, I went into the "Editor" and found WACS (25). It did not have a channel number next to it. I entered "25" and turned it "ON". It is now listed (and comes in) on the Guide. Let you know if this works.

The people at that number were very helpful.

My Guide + is now working, too. Don't know what happened.

Re: [Guest] Guide Plus not updating channels. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm glad to have found these forums. I have a RCA DVD/DMR 700x that came with Guide Plus. We've never been able to get it to work ( I live in Kodiak, Alaska). We assumed it was because we chose to use the most basic cable package which was the first 14 channels (no box). We survived with that for two years and my wife finally gave in and we got the box with 50 channels. Okay, so we ran the setup again and the cable box is controlled by the IR wand. I still don't get GuidePlus to give me a listing though. I'm going to try and redo the zip code as suggested above and cross my fingers. A comment. I have multiple support numbers for Guide Plus/Gemstar and they have the worst support I have ever had the unfortunate luck to experience. I was able to talk to one person on the East Coast and he pointed out that the channel that my cable company uses came into conflict with the ability for us to download information. Now that we've changed over to the box, I've tried a couple of times with absolutely no return calls. You'd think RCA would take a little more effort in their relationship with those jackasses. I read in the the forums on epinion to be careful about the purchase, but couldn't believe it myself. Caveat Emptor. I'd love to hear if anyone else is experiencing this problem and have managed to fix it.
