I bought an (out of country) sony television and I have cable issues Can't Post

I just bought a television. It is a sony model: KV-XA29M66 off a popular for sale listing website. I live in america, and the television is from singapore. I hooked it up and some of the channels are not there, and the common channels from my previous television are one channel above. Is this a hardware issue? If so, how can I make it play like a normal AMERICAN television would? If it is not a hardware issue, how can I remedy this problem so that I can have comedy central again? Thanks! Sorry for the noob question, any help is appreciated greatly!!!

One thing you can do is get a cable box from your provider. If you are trying to get Comedy Central, you shouldn't have to pay much more for a digital cable box. On the back, there should be some composite outputs. This will allow you to completely bypass the tuner. Connect the cable box to the tv using the composite red, white, and yellow cord and you now have an american tuner on your tv. You shouldn't have any problems what so ever. Cool?

wow thanks for the replies guys! I will contact time warner and get a cable box. My next door neighbor happens to work for them so maybe he'll give me some kind of discount. How much should I expect to pay for a basic cable box? Would it be more beneficial to purchase (ahem) a "black box"?

If you pay more than a few bucks a month for the box I'll be surprised. Normally, if its only one box you need, it comes in the price of the service and any additional box is extra.

Sinapore uses PAL instead of NTSC. Basically the frequency table is different between the two among a few other differences. I recently run into a couple of TV's that will do NTSC, PAL and SECAM.

check it out, may help explain it some.
