Local channels not clear Can't Post

Greetings- 1st post

I have comcast cable in Detroit area. From pole to house where a splitter is installed on the out side. One goes into basement where one TV is hooked up along with computer. Second goes upstairs to second TV.

I bought a splitter for the upstairs to put another TV in adjacent bedroom. Ran rg6 cable with gold plated ends. Now both TV's not getting local channels even after reset TV's. All other channels come in great. I dug up an old (silver ended) cable from the basement to attach from wall plug to TV and it worked fine. All channels present. My friend in another city has the same problem. With an older cable (unknown what type) everything is great. New cable with latest tips- no dice.

Now my question being- Why is this doing this? What type of cable do you experts think is the old cable I dug up? Thanks in advance for the help.

Cables vary in size and type, They also very in impedance. The standard for the cable industry for in-house wire is rg 6 dual shielded 75ohm impedance. It sounds to me like you bought a bad cable though. Typically a low grade short from a damaged cable or the outer shield that is also a ground touching the center conductor tends to effect the lower channels 2-6
