Why can't I tape off of Digital cable? Can't Post

I have a HDTV hooked up with digital cable and i'm trying to record movies on a VCR. One would think that there wouldn't be a problem in this equation, but there is. The tv recognizes the vcr but won't let it record, any idea how to get it to record? I'm not trying to record digital media.

I don't actually know anything about this but

Wouldn't you need a D-VCR capable of recording HDTV signals (if that was possible) or a cassette that is capable of recording an HDTV signal.

* I know they make D-VCRs and fox sells DVHS videos for about $30 a piece. So I know that these formats exist i just don't know if they are capable of recording HDTV signals like a Regular VCR is capable of recording an Analog/Digital(not HDTV) signal.

If you use a DCT for your digital you must put your tv on channel 3 and tell your vcr to tape channel 3 and put your DCT on the channel you want to tape. Most DCT's only have 1 tuner so you have to watch the program you tape.
