I have a bad feeling that one of the sub-contractors may have accidentally cut one of the cable lines in my new house. And it had to be the line to the toughest outlet in the house. I would think the cable company has cable line fault finders, but how do they work? Do they just tell the distance of from the connector to the cut, or can they actually detect where the cut is behind the wall. Sounds like another blunder from the sub contractors. They have cut your cable so you will not recieve a signal anymore. This could be dangerous as signals are flying through wires at great speed. My advice is call your cable company, tell them what has happened. As regard detection fault finders,They will have a message on computer of failed signal attempt. If the signal cannot get into the box, then they will know by that message. They can probably find where the cut is by dragging up the cable and looking carefully.Once found it is just a case of waterproof ducktape to link the severed ends together. If you know where the cut is you could do it yourself but be careful not to touch gold wire. You are safe to touch the insulation but never touch Gold cable which is the signal carrier. This is alive and kicking. Will give nasty shock.
