Per an earlier post I made regarding missing channels on the digital cable box that came in fine on the analog signal....
Discovered and fixed the problem today.
Earlier I had eliminated a lot of things like the digital cable box itself. The problem only occured when I ran the incoming cable thru a 3x splitter. I tried several different splitters (5-1000Mhz) with no difference.
Finally got the Comcast guy out and, after repeating my earlier trouble shooting, he measured the signal strength at the splitter and it was very low. Same at the feed to the side of the house. Signal was fine at the post. So...somewhere along that 120 feet of buried cable drop there is a problem. Strung a new temporary drop across the lawn and all is fine. Just a weak signal afterall.
Tomorrow I have this appointment with a shovel....LOL.
