motorola cable box problem Can't Post

I have a motorola cable box DCT1700 that I found in the parking lot of my apartment complex. I doubted that it would work, but it worked fine for about two weeks. Then, my girlfriend did something with the remote and now it never shows video. You can hear the audio (Sometimes it doesn't come on at first, i have to hit the Picture to Picture swap button and it works fine) but the video never does. I've unplugged it, and tried changing all the settings but can't seem to get it to work.

I know it could just be broken and that is why whoever left it outside did so, but I doubt it. I think my gf is just saying that she didn't touch it even though she did. Since I don't own it I can't call mediacom (the cable company) and don't have any manuals (I have tried the online manuals, but they didn't help).

If anyone has any idea on what is wrong and how to fix it, it would be much appreciated

Thanks

I should probably also mention, that there is video output in that the menus come up. But that is all, other than that it's a black screen with the audio of what is on TV.

Addressable cable boxes time out. it sounds like someone moved and lost the box or an installer lost the box. After not getting a hit from the cable company on a regular bases it will time out and poof no tv.
