My Guide Plus+ is not Updating Can't Post

Unsure Hi Everyone

Is anyone having trouble with Guide Plus since they discontinued the news section. My Guide plus is not updating! It shows all the channels but beside the channels is says "NO LISTING".

This has been going on for almost 2 weeks and I am lost without the Guide Plus. I tried setting up again. I tried using a different zip code. Actually..... I tried everything I could think of.

I live in Somerville, Massachusetts.... Is anyone having the same problem? I don't know if that part of the TV is broke and I have to bring it to a repairman or the Guide Plus Updating is messing up.

If anyone has any ideas or remedies I would appreciate your help. Shocked

Mine is not working either and been that way for days. I have emailed the company that I think supply the information we see on the screen and am waiting a reply.

Will post back here if I hear something.

Ginnie, here is a copy of the email I got in return and might help you.

Yes, we do supply the GUIDE Plus+ systems. I've forwarded to your email to our customer service group who should get in contact with you to determine the problem. If you want to email them directly, the address is customer.service@tvguide.com <mailto:customer.service@tvguide.com> .

Thank you for contacting the TV Guide on Screen Technical Support Department.

I will be helping you with your issue with the GUIDE Plus+ system.

I understand that you are currently having problems downloading your listings. Please try the following fix:

1) Click File|Download Weekly File on the menu.

2) Enter 11111 as the ZIP Code.

3) Click the Download Button and Let the Download Complete.

4) Repeat steps 1-3 this time entering your correct information

5) Complete the download.

Changing the ZIP Code and Re-entering your correct ZIP Code should purge any old data in the database in the case of a database corruption.

If you are still unable to update your listings, please email me back. Please include your ZIP Code and your cable provider.

Sly Thanks Billy885 for getting back to me. About a couple of weeks after I posted my update question the guide plus showed up again.

But when it came back the listings were named differently. Now I wonder if it was because of my Cable company. Just before it came back I received a letter from them telling me that the lineup was changing a little.

I am confused though, is your guide plus on a computer or a TV? I have mine on a GE Television therefore, it doesn't download, it updates overnight when the television is off.

I will try to changing the Zip Code the next time it happens though. I am so spoiled with the guide plus on this television that if the TV died so would I. I can't find any televisions that come with guide plus+ anymore. I wanted to get one for my sister as a gift. I understand that there are some DVD recorders out there somewhere with guide plus. At least that is what Consumer Buyers guide said. Again, thanks a bunch for getting back to me. Shocked Smile

Hello Ginnie,

No, mine is on the TV set not the computer. I just used the computer to contact TVGuide and yes mine does not download either, just like yours and mine also has shown up again without doing anything. Mine also updates at night with the TV off. Mine is a RCA TV, given to me by my son and he did not know it had that feature.

I just passed on the info just in case you had a newer model then mine. Yes we are spoiled also by the "GuidePlus+" use is all the time, even to tape shows when we are not here.

I will look and see if I can find out if it is still available on the newer TVs or whatever.

Smile Hi Billy,

If you could find a television that you could purchase with guide plus, I would be soooo happy. I would really like to get one for my sister. Also, in your search, if you happen upon a VCR/DVD with this feature I surely would appreciate the info.

I get up at 4:00 a.m. to go to work, so I record my favorite programs and movies every night. It would be great to just highlight the program and the VCR would do everything else. With my silly VCR you have to know what date it is in order to record the right thing. Since my GE VCR Died I had to get a new VCR/DVD and nothing compares to GE VCR. The GE did everything but pick out the movie for you to watch. I don't understand why when they have something great like that they discontinue selling them. Frown

I have the Guide Plus+ wand that came with the television but I don't use it. A lot of the time something is pre-empted and you only get half of a movie or show. Have a wonderful day. Smile

The Guide is currently available in Toshiba and LG TV's. The new version is called TV Guide On Screen. They can be purchased at Best Buy as well as some local retail stores.

Smile Thanks Billy, I am soooo thrilled that I can still purchase a television with Guide Plus+. That is what I had in mind for my sister for her birthday or Christmas. Thanks again for checking for me. I am not that good with the internet Shocked, so I was unable to find the information myself.
