1080I makes part of the screen go off the TV? Can't Post

I have a H20 Direct Tv Box

I have it connected Via and HDMI to DVI cable

when I set my TV for 1080I the left side of the screen goes out of view

I can fix it with the menu and recenter the screen, so the menu shows up ok

but when I put some channels on you can see that there is some more stuff

missing on the left , i check the TV menu set up and there is no setting in there for

Also the box will only allow me to use 480I and 480P and the 1080I

when I use 720p the picture splits into 3 vertical slots like having 3 movie posters

on my screen and you cannot use that resolution

anyone have any ideas

If your set doesn't accept 720p just use 1080i.

Does your tv set have a format or expand button.Check the owners manuel. This is used to expand a widescreen feed to fill the whole screen.

With HD or DVD you should get bars across the top and bottom of picture.

the tv supports 1080i

but when i set the sat box to it part of the menu goes off of the screen and I have to recenter it

then when I go to the channels that are shown in 4.3 with the bars on the left and right not top and bottom

and they have the letters hd in them you can still see that the one on the left is cut in half

so I wonder if I am missing any actual picture on the full 16.9

on the left and I cannot find any setting that will let me adjust the screen while

viewing a show to see if there is anything missing while viewing tv

How do you recenter it? What are you doing to recenter it?

You use the expand/format button on the tv remote to stretch the picture so there is no black bars on the sides. What brand, model, type of tv do you have?
