DTV Receiver d10 300	Can't Post

Hi guys,
I need a little bit of advise.

My father has an account with Direct TV and was given 4 boxes model number D10 300. I was living in the basement and I was using his dish to receive the signal without any problems, but I moved across the street and I can’t run a cable to the dish.

Does anybody know anything about connecting the box to the dish.

I know that I need to buy a dish to put on the roof, but do I need anything else besides the dish to make it work?

Maybe a decoder or something?

If you put up a Directv sat dish and connect the coax BUT DO NOT CONNECT A DIFFERENT PHONE LINE, the receiver will think it is still across the street at dads. It will work the same as it did in dads house.

The only way a receiver / directv knows where it is located is by the phone connection
