Direct TV Installation Can't Post

I have a question for anyone who has had Direct TV installed.
This may seem like a strange question but please bare with me.
So they connect a Satellite Dish to your roof. How did they install the cable from the Dish to the inside of your house. If it is installed in multi-rooms on different floors and different sides of the house.

Thanks so much for your help.

A sat dish has 4 coax cables going into your house. If you need 4 they connect all 4 , if you need less they only run and use the number of cables needed to each receiver.

I would ask that they install on the side of your house instead of the roof. If you need roof repairs you don't lose service when they move the sat dish. Then you must get it reinstalled.

Re: [TANK1] Direct TV Installation [In reply to] Can't Post

I was actually more curious if they drilled a hole in any of the exterior walls to bring the cables into a room.

Here's what happened. My kids (with whom I live) switched to Direct TV last week. I purchased a DVR receiver. The first guy that came hooked the receiver up. Said he would come back to do the 2nd line. He didn't return at all. We called Direct TV to get for the DVR. someone to return to finish installing the 2nd line for the receiver in my room. So!! we wound up with the Regional Manager of DiTech (the folks who do the installation). We wanted the 2nd line into the room installed by drilling a hole next to where the cable for our Internet comes in. The cable then runs concealed by the corner of the house moulding and to the basement. This is what the first guy was suppose to do. Anyhow, this regional manager refused to do that. He wanted drill a whole into the floor, staple it around 2 inside walls of the garage, then drilll a hole to the basement. This is not what we wanted. He was the Regional Manager and he doesn't do the installations that way. That's why he is a regional manager and not a technician. So the installation to my room was not completed. Let me add that the first guy did drill a hole on an exterior wall to hook up a receiver to one of the other rooms. So needless to say this does not make me happy person. We now have to deal with a situation that shouldn't be. It seems to me that they may have the right to inform you of how they believe the installation should be done. But since, we are the owners of the house it seems like we should have the right to tell them was is not reasonable to us.

Thanks for repying to my message and letting me vent.

Installers get paid per installation, so the fastest way is usually the way the take. Not all - but some of them.
Your kids could run the coax cable the way you want it done and the installer could add the connectors and connect.

Or you could hire someone to do the install your way and then ask D* for a credit for the cost. They might depending on how long you have been with D*, what level of programming you get, and if you have the NFLST.

Installation IMHO is the weak link with D*. There are a lot of really good dedicated installers, but then there some that are not.

I personally have put off upgrading to HD , because of my fears about who will the installation. I live in area with only 3 installers and 2 have less then few years experience.

The easiest and fastest way would have been to go through the side of the house. The installers were "DirecTech". They do the majority of DirectTV installation around here. We are still going to fight to have them comeback. Our agreement is with Direct TV and I paid the extra money for my DVR receiver. And if nothing else they should have to give us the cable, etc. that is needed. As my daughter says "Regional Managers" also have someone above them.
I'll certainly let you know how things turn out.

Call Directv and complain about the second line not being connected, and demand a refund for the dvr fee since you can't use the dvr features until a 2nd line is ran.

Call during the daytime hrs during the week. It usually gets someone at a call center in the USA and most helpful csr's.

We will be calling them again. The regional manager noticed that our Internet Connection was not through Direct TV. There is no way I would use them for my Internet Connection. I've had it through our local cable folks for eternity. It's consistent and reliable. The only time there has ever been a problem is when we get major storms (snow or thunder) that knock down lines. If we have to call them for some reason, we don't spend an hour on hold. The cable tv here is a little more expensive, doesn't have all the channels that you get with Direct TV but they also are much more reliable.

I will let you know what happens. And again thank you so much for letting me vent.
