Direct TV Receivers Monthly Fee Can't Post

What is the point of owning receivers is you still have to pay a monthly access fee? The only reason I can come up with is lack of a 2year commitment.

You don't own the receivers anymore. They are leased.

You pay an extra fee for only the extra receivers ( the first receiver isn't charge the fee )

The new HD DVR requires a two year commitment. All other new receivers require a 1 year commitment.

That good to know about the 1 year commitment, as I don't want DVR service. The DTV folks have never mention the 1 year commitment. But the reason I bring this question up is because I see a lot of new receiver for sale on ebay which could be used for other rooms. But if the monthly leasing cost is the same as the month access fee for owned receivers, I don't see an advantage to owning receivers.

Remember if you buy a receiver on e-bay - you will still need a new acccess card from D* ( $20 ).

If the the receiver has any unpaid charges ( didn't pay their D* bill ) you must pay off those charges before it will be activated plus $20 for the access card .

If you a new sub to D* you get all your equipment free and installed by D*.

Just call DTV and the 2 year commitment is for any advance receiver, HD, DVR, and HD DVR. One year commitment is OK, but 2 year is not worth it.
