Direct TV and TV problems that need more attention Can't Post

I had a nice (wellll, not so nice) talk with Direct TV today. I still wanted their service but money oh darn is a bit tight and so I wanted to go from their Plus package to their Choice package. Well, they said why bother, I would pay the same amount as I am now. I'd be charged a little more for using a DVR and they axe your previous setup to their new packages and can't go back once changed. Not nice. pay the same for 45 less channels that most I never watch anyway.
I also found out they are changing from a customer owned receiver to a leased one with no options in this matter. It's for new users starting in march I think. They said customer's prefer this even though in their new user advertising they gave these pretty much away for free. I paid for my DVR and got the money back via rebate. So they are finding a nice cable tv way of ripping their users off.
I'm wondering if others see something wrong here or like to pay more overall.
I can only hope enough people complain, threaten to switch to Dish Network (I"m not sure if they are following Direct TV in these matters and will have to give them a call as I'm really thinking of dropping Direct TV. I've already pretty well made up my mind to start a large DVD movie and series packages and drop them all together and have already got quite a start on this.
One reason (among these others) I'm getting unhappy also is they really only show very few different shows per day, they like to show a tv show or movie 3 times per day on many channels so we get a lot less content for their higher prices they are asking as well. I don't blame them totally for this as it's the networks that direct tv shows that are doing this but direct tv could have a say in it or drop them if they continue this rip off practice.
I'm hoping people are as fed up with some of these things as I am and start either a petition on this or another website for them to change or people will drop their service and go to another one. I know you'll get the same limited showing of different shows per channel per day on any of them but the cost is getting higher, the quality of what they show isn't what I'd call great but they are not going to do anything as long as they make lots and lots of money.
But this takes guts and maybe I'm asking too much of the general population as most have the oh well rash attached to their brains these days. I'm not going to put up with it at least and I hope people start to look at what they pay for. Mad

So Directv is bad because :

You want them to give you the package you have now for a lower price because money is tight?

You bought a dvr and gave a rebate and that is ripping you off ?

They went to leased receivers because they will need to convert to the new mpeg4 capable ones as they are turned over. So you don't have to keep buying new one.

Why do want to own one ? They have zero resale value.

As programming, Directv can only show what is being broadcast from the networks.
Many people like multiple viewing times, because they can watch shows at more convenient time for them. Very few homes have dvr.

If your commitment time has expired you are free to drop Directv.
It's only tv and if is getting so upset then drop it.

As for dvds- I hope you know there are two types of HD dvds and no one if both types will suceed. So you might be building a library of a certain type of dvd , only to find out it went the way of Betamax.

Do you know how to read? Or is it your IQ is stamped on the back of a quarterbacks uniform?
I said I wanted to change from one plan to another cheaper plan to save money. For some reason you just don't get this. I DID NOT SAY I WANTED TO PAY LESS FOR THE SAME PLAN. Wow, you are thick. I got the reply that they would charge me more for the DVR service and I would end up paying the exact same amount for less channels. Wow, was this that tough to understand? Do you even have a IQ that is measurable?
As far as owning vrs. renting, that only works if you have the unit for a short time. They weren't that expensive to own, are given away for new customers which they will most likely stop as well, but if you spend any time with them you will end up paying more. This takes a little thinking too to understand so from your reply I can see why you would miss this point. I'm not going to be nice because I don't care to be misquoted.
I am not a HD fanatic, I can take it or leave it. I wasn't even talking about HD tv. Though for once you have a valid point about upgrades but the time problem still makes it more costly to lease.
I have a flier here if I really wanted to I'd just switch to dish network and get the damm HD receiver free for changing over to them.
But HD wasn't what I was writing about. I also mentioned the repeated showings and made it clear that I didn't blame Direct TV but the networks but you messed up on this point as well.
I can see this forum is pretty bad off as usually I get at least 2 to 3 smart replies before something like you comes along.
Oh yeah, it's not Why do want to own one, it's Why do YOU want to own one or Why don't you want to own one. Go back to school or by the reply you must still be in around 4th or 5th grade right? But my cousin's 4 year old even talks better than that. At least your IQ is in that ballpark. I'm going to go find a forum with people who know how to think. If you did think and actually see the structure of what they show on Direct TV and even cable you would know your getting seriously ripped off. People who work on swing or graveyard sift get to come home to watch paid infomercials for the rest of the night. Great deal. Pay to watch networks showing stuff they got paid to show by the people putting those worthless things on the air. That takes up about 30% or more of their 24 hour content then mix in massive repeating shows during the day and you see you pay for not much at all.
Receivers don't really cost that much and I prefer to own.
DVD movies I really care less about HD, I've watched them using upconverters and while it's not quite a good it's damm good enough for me. If people can't be happy with that they'll never be happy with anything as they will always now be coming out with something new. They are following the computer marketing now and want people to upgrade constantly. HD tv's are about the worst thing that has happened to tv's. They look a bit better, cost a ton, need a lot more maintenance and anyone who pays a nice chunk of change for the bulbs can tell you. I can take it or leave it and stick with a good tv and a quality DVD and screw network TV as it stands now because it's a total ripoff. It's worth about 25.00/mo as it stands right now and that is a high figure.
Next time you reply to someone, think before you do and do NOT reply to my posts ever again. Your just too stupid.

You should be happy anyone took the time or effort to read that continuous , run on of babble of your inconsistent thought process.
