Direct TV channels and cable channels

Hello everybody, i am new to the forum so i have a question that really needs to be explained to me. I live in vegas and I just got my direct tv today cause i wanted the football package , now i had cable before cause i needed the internet service form them. so when i got my direct tv i cancelled my cable and just kept my internet service from them, now here is my problem. my wife likes to watch this show on mtv called real world challenge that comes on mondays at 9:00pm on cable so when i checked my direct TV for 9:00 pm it was a diffrent show, so now she is pissed at me cause she cant watch it anymore. when i checked the listings it was showing for wed 11:00 am. so i thought this was strange cause while the whole world knows the results of the show she has to wait until wed wich is not cool . so is the Direct TV tome zones off or is there a problem with my box? plz let me know.thank you u very much.
