Direct TV in 2 Different States (Same Account) Can't Post

Ok,

Here's the set-up...please tell me if this would be valid and work...I've heard it would

I live in Miami, Let's say I purchase Direct TV (1) dish, (2) receivers, and a base package.

My friend who lives in Philadelphia goes to Best Buy and purchases (1) dish and (2) receivers...(no package)

Then after the purchase, my friend installs his set up and calls me and gives me his receiver model or vin # and I call Direct TV and say, I'd like to add (2) more receivers to my account and then I give the model or vin # of the (2) receivers that my friend purchased @ Best Buy in Phily and it's activated.

So that brings me to my question...

Would that mean that he would get a signal off my account in Phily, while I am in Miami...if that's the case we would definately split the costs and be loving life. Is there any validitity to that?

Thanks

Since all the recievers would be on your account, you would get Miami local channels ( NBC ABC CBS FOX etc) and the local regional sports channel. And all other Directv channels in the package you buy.

The recievers in Philly would get the same sports channel as you but NOT the local tv channels from MIAMI.They are on a spot beam from the sat and Philly is not in the spot beam area.He would also get all the channels in Directv package you buy.

Thanks Tank...Now would my buddy in Philly get his local (Phily) channels? or he will not have access to any local channels being that he's in that spot beam.

What about the state of Florida...Lets say I have the exact situation w/ another buddy who lives in the state of FL but 145 miles away...would he be able to get the Miami local channels off my package?

Maybe

The Florida spot beams are broken into the Miami/South Florida, then there is the Orlando/Tampa and the third is Jax/Tallahassee.

I don't know of any map with exact ending points for certain beams and some in the center of Florida overlap each other

Based on the original scenerio (me being in Miami and my buddy being in phily) Would my buddy in Philly get his local (Phily) channels? or he will not have access to any local channels being that he's in that spot beam.

If the receivers are on your account and the address on the account is Miami Fl.

The receivers outside of the Miami spot beam could not get locals.

To get Philly locals he must have an account with an address in the Philly area.
