Direct tv wont stick to verbal agreement Can't Post

I bought an HD-10 DVR from Curcuit City about a 1.5 years ago. At the time it was known that the new satellites would be using mpeg 4 thus making my receiver obsolete.
When I found this out I was still under the return time so I called and asked if they would exchange my DVR for a new one when the time came since it would be such a short time to when I would need a new one.. I was told that they would exchange it and I would get a new one.
Now that the time has come, they are not honoring there verbal commitment. Even though the calls I made were recorded(I asked them to make a file about my call)they are now saying that the only thing they will do is let me lease one and not swap out the boxes and stick me with a new 2 year commitment. The customer service lady said there policy had changed since I made the call. I am under the impression that they would be obliged to what they said when I made the original call.
To say the least I am a little upset. Anyone else ran into this?

Well I just dropped HBO,high Def channels, and a reciever. About 25 dollars a month that I was paying now I am not.
I have a nice upsampling DVD and with HD DVD coming out I can just rent my movies. So its my payback, 300 dollars a year in lost revenue.

Do they want any out of pocket money for the new HD DVR ?

Everyone else is paying $199 to upgrade to the new HD DVR.
The 2 year commitment is mandatory .
