Existing Direct TV customer wants HD	Can't Post

My 2 year contract with Direct TV will end in October. When we initially signed up we chose the DVR option but recently purchased an HD TV and would like to upgrade to Direct TV HD. Does anyone know what this will cost me under my current contract? Just want to get an idea before I call and try to hear it from them.

If you a good sub ( pay your bill on time ) you can get basic HD receiver ( one year lease required ) and the new slimline sat dish installed at no cost.
If sub to the NFL Sunday Ticket or any other premiums ( HBO,Showtime,Starz, Cinemax or other sports subscriptions ) you can get the HD DVR ( two year lease required ) at a reduced price . Anywhere from $99 - $199 depending on your score. The more you pay per year in subscriptions and premium channels and pay on time the higher the score .

Best to call during the day ( more experienced csr seem to work days ) , if you don't get a deal you like just say you want to think about it. Then just call again a little later ( there are so many call centers in USA , you will get a different center and csr ).

If the next csr offers you the same deal, that is probably going to be your best deal.

You could also buy ( lease ) a HD Dvr or HD Receiver from another source ( online dealer, Best Buy, Circuit City etc ) and just ask for a free slimline hd sat dish installed for free.

I'm in the same boat. I just purchased a HDTV and want to upgrade to the HD package. I'm terrible at negotiating these type of things. Will they just laugh at me if I ask for a free upgraded DVR HD receiver and dish if I sign up for a 2 year plan?

Getting a free HD dvr , I think will hard unless you are a long time sub ( 8yrs + ) to D*. They have the most HD channels and Dish just lost a sat that was just launched, so D* really has no reason to give those HD dvr's away for free.

Just call and say " I want to upgrade to Hd , but money is tight. What can be done to help me ? "
