HD Receiver and DVR issue (help) Can't Post

Just switched to Direct TV and loving it. Just one question...
I have an HD receiver (using HDMI to connect to TV) and a Toshiba Upconvert DVD Player / DVR HDD. Is there a way that I can record onto the Toshiba from Direct TV? The Toshiba has coax in / red-white-yellow in / s-video in and HDMI / Component Video / coax out.
I tried connecting the RWY from the HD Receiver to the Toshiba and Component Vid to the TV (it just has 1 HDMI input) but I didn't get a picture.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Jimmy

Red , white , and yellow can't carry a HD signal. You need to send a HD signal by DVI, HDMI,or Component Viedo cables ( GREEN, BLUE AND RED ).

Try component cables from sat receiver to DVR, then component cables from DVR to TV.
Also use a HDMI from sat receiver directly to the TV.

You must tell the tv which input ( HDMI or component video )you want to watch, you just push the remote control to cycle from Video1-Video 2 - etc.

You should be able to connect R/W/Y cables from sat receiver to dvr and connect R/W/Y to tv.
It will not record in HD, but should record in SD.
