HI DEF hook up Can't Post

a newbie here so please forgive me if this has been previously addressed but I did not see anything. I eventually will upgrade to the hi def receiver, but for now my situation is this: I added onto our house and ran RG6 coax from a splitter to the new "game room". I plan to wall mount a TV in there(hi def of course) but do not plan to have another receiver there, just piggy backing off the main receiver(yes I realize it will have the same channel has the main receiver)....since the wall connection is a coax jack how do I connect to the TV to get the hi def signal? Will I need some sort of converter to take the signal from coax to component/hdmi??...as you can see I'm really a novice in this area! Thanx!

First what kind of splitter are splitting the coax with ? If it is just a basic splitter you will have major problems with signal / picture .
Trying to operate two HD sets with one Hd receiver isn't going to work easily. You need a multi switch and not a basic splitter

For Hd you need to connect the 2nd set with either Component video cables, dvi or hdmi . If you use component cables you run RCA audio cables for the sound .

Next problem will changing channels on the sat receiver, are you going to keep going into the other room to change channels ?
I would just add the a new Hd receiver to the new hd set.

For now it is just a basic splitter but I will install whatever is needed in it's place. Channel changing is being done by IR blaster system. I don't forsee ever needing a different channel in both rooms so I;m not concerned about each TV being totally independent of each other and want to avoid the additional receiver.

You can't just split a sat coax and use it on two recievers.

You need a multiswitch and must connect the 4 coax lines off the hd sat dish to the multiswitch and run the coax to the recievers.
This multi switch takes the 4 coax lines from the dish on the input side of the multiswitch and you connect up to 8 recievers with it.
