Hey guys Have a few questions with signup Can't Post

Hey guys i currently have Cox and hate them because they lied to me, and only give me about 75 channels for 60 dollars a month. I am ready for Direct TV, but need some info since this would be my first time with Satellite.

If i want HD service but wanted to wait until we get all HD tvs 3 compared to one, i know the fee of 10 dollars would be added on, but would i need a new dish also? Would it be worth it just to sign ip with all HD receivers or just wait until new tvs (about mid to late year) can someone explain this?

How is your service overall like signal have any problems with the Satellite loosing signal easy? (I live in San Diego, Ca) pretty sure wouldn't be a issue.

Last is i thought i could avoid the 9.98 extra charge for the last 2 receivers by buying them on Ebay. However from another post it looks like that doesn't work. Tongue From what i understand with Dish (Not going with them) but they said one HD box powers 2 TV's and with Cable its one box for 3, how does Direct Tv work? Do i need 3 boxes for each TV? I read some old deals where they include 4 boxes for free but i guess not now do you think i should wait until latter? 10 dollars extra a month is a big difference for me. Any insights? Thanks, Brian

You get your best deal from D* as a new sub. So decide what you need , then look for that deal.
Fees are $9.98 for HD access ( for those channels with both sd and HD versions ) and there is also a $4.98 extra fee for HD Extra Pack - a few HD channels ( HD only - MGM, Smithsonian , Universal HD, and one other )

For HD you need a the Slimline 5 lnb HD sat dish ( must be installed by an installer ).
There is no reason to buy anything off e-bay because they still need new access cards ( $20 per card) and you still pay the $4.99 per month additional receiver fee.

Each receiver is for each tv. They each need their own coax cable from the dish. A dvr or HD dvr needs two coax cables from the dish.

I would suggest you get what you want for the installation, because that way you never need to pay anyone to add new coax cable runs when you add receivers.
In San Diego you should not have any problems losing the sat signal. Loss signal is usually from heavy rain/snow .
