I think my landlord is stealing Direct tv service from me. Can't Post

Is there such thing as stealing Direct Tv Service? My landlord had something plugged into the cable cords running to my service, when the installment guy came he cut it, and then did the job. I was using at the moment 3 out of 4 connectors. Now since we added a new tv and i upgraded to DVR, we are using 5, 3 for the tvs and 2 for the dvr. Since there were 4 connectors the guy putted an adapter. Now my landlord says that he cannot watch tv in the third floor, and he says he had the same thing i have. I'm trying to figure this out, but since feeling get in the way i just get mad and begin to assume stuff that maybe are impossible. But can someone tell me if is possible to steal direct tv service? He has 2 recievers, one of them is in the second floor and the other in the third. The one in the third floor is the one not working (weird). So can he just get the same service i get in he gets the connections from my cable cords?

The signal you pay for comes out of your sat box.Without a working (activated) sat box, there is no service.

If your landlord was using one of the coax lines from the dish,he must have a sat box to get the signal.

A building can have one dish shared by all the tenants. Each tenant must have a sat box (or boxes) and an active account with Directv.

A oval sat dish has 4 coax lines coming out.Since you need 5,your installer added a mult-switch.Now you can have up to 8 lines from your dish.

Does he have his own sat dish on the roof?

Yes, i just found out that, he has 2 boxes in the second floor, and one in the third. The one in the third is my target, that's the one he's trying to mess around. They have the box with the acess card and everything. He has his dish and i have mine. But he is doing something to connect to my dish.

Great news, I just wouldn't ok today thinking that I’m paying a lot for my channels and someone is taking advantage and using my channels without paying or anything. I called Direct TV and they told me that the signal comes from the sat dish. The sat dish then transmits raw data to the receivers and then according to the access card the receiver shows your programs. My landlord maybe was trying to get some of my access by trying to plug his receiver to my dish. But according to the Direct TV costumer service, is impossible to steal direct TV service. My landlord could be messing with my cable cord (which is rude for not telling me) but even with my connection he won't be able to have my same service because of his access card. Finally, I had 2 agonizing days thinking about it, but today I will sleep safe and sound, with some malice still going on but not as much as this last 2 days.

Thanks to those who tried to help by posting.

His dish proably only had two coax cables coming out.

With 3 sat boxes he needed 3 coax lines and instead of buying a multi-switch,he was using one of your cables from your dish.

nope, that wasn't the reason, it was that he has to much avarice but is doesn't like to spend money even thou he has a lot. So he wanted to see if he could get my channels but he failed miserably on his atempt. I'm glad Direct Tv has an acess card, otherwise i would be paying for him to ejoy quality tv for free.

Your receiver decodes eveything, All he can do is use your dish to pick up signal. Only way to cheat this would be if he called in and added his receiver to your account then giving him the same programming you subscribe to for a additional receiver charge of 4.99 a month but you would also see it on your billing invoice as a additional receiver.

i couldn't take it anymore, because i knew that he was doing something with my connection without my permision. Which sucks because by talking we can get to an agreement but he chooses to do stuff underground.

I call direct tv and now i have the protection the offer. Now anytime i feel insecure i can simply call them and a technician is going to check the connection.

The technician this week came and notice that he had a box connected to my connection. He was using three recievers and only paying for 2. How? I have no idea, i don't even know what box was that, that lets you steal cable like that. He was getting the same service he was paying to an additional reciever. Genious but, on my connection, which sucks.

Now he seems to be scared which hopefully is going to make him think twice before trying to mess around wich my DTV connection.

Coco, There is a secret Your landlord didn't want you to know, and perhaps you don't know. Although, he has this receivers installed same line to yours? . He can't watch it unless, you turn yours...Once your receiver signal is off, all of connected will loose signal as well.
