Installing a 24 inch dish Can't Post

Hi,

I am thinking about replacing my old 18 inch with a 20 or 24 inch dish to get more channels and improve reception. I wanted to know if I can just replace the dish and leave the old post or pipe which is presently attached to. Or do I have to replace everything and have it professionally installed. Is it a difficult and time consuming job to replace just the dish?

Thanks

Joe

The 20" dish with 3lnbs is the one you want.

The 20" dish won't improve reception, but will give you slightly less rain fade.(loss of signal due to rain).

Unless you want Hd or I think the Spanish channels you won't get any more channels.

You might need the 20" dish for your locals if so Directv will install.

A new dish comes with a bracket and the pole with a bubble level inside to make sure it's level. If it's not level you will not get all 3 sats.

A self install is not that hard to do.If you have someone inside the house looking at the signal strenghth on the screen.

Make sure your receiver is set up for 3 sats. This is in set up menu( type of dish)

When you mount the mast it must be plumb.Should be a bubble float when you look into the mast.

If that doesn't work you into the set up menu and enter your zipcode. It will give you the skew, elevation, and azimuth for the dish.

To check for signal lock go to

Channel 490-that's sat 101 odd transponders

491-101 even

492-119 odd

493-119 even

494-110 all

Just keep moving your dish slightly until you get 490-494,then adjust slightly for signal strenghth as close to 100 as you can get.The higher the better less chance of rain fade.

Some ares of the country will only get in the 80's.
