Problems w/ channel guide

I have an HD-20 receiver & show signals on the SAT A(101) to be in the 90's on clear weather.During real heavy cloud cover, they drop to the low 80's. The problem is that the channel guide knocks off the picture & re-aquires data during this weather(about every 5 mins.)
Can I disable the channel guide somehow?
