Signal Lost Can't Post

I had a signal and lost it when I changed to better quality cables. Can anyone help me. Do I need to reset my receiver? I've checked the signal strength and I'm not getting anything. I'm really confused on this one. I'm in Canada.

What cables did you change?

What happens if you change back to the old ones?

I chnaged S-video and rca jacks. I'll try going back to the old ones. But, I've tried moving my dish and even the dish strength is not working. Besdies, if the cables were bad then I wouldn't get anything on the TV. How do you reset the recevier?

You did remember to push the video button for your tv? When connected to another type of cable such as a s-video you have to push the video on the remote for your tv.

To reset just unhook the phone line, the coax in from the sat dish and unplug the power. After a 10 minutes connect everything and power up.

I done all of these. It seems like it's not recognizing my dish. When I go to test my signal strength it's not giving me a number. It should not me the strength or peak, should it not. Is it possible the LNB is gone on the dish. All I keep getting is a message saying it's looking for a signal, please stand by. I',m really confused-:-))

Sounds like when you moved or adjusted your sat dish,it is not picking up the sat signal now.

Before you replace a lnb make sure your dish is aligned right.

Re: [TANK1] Signal Lost [In reply to] Can't Post

How would I align it if I can't use my signal strenghth on my tv. It just keep beeping steadily and there is no reading on my strength reading. When I iniatially hooked up Direct three years ago I remeber it working and the strength of my signal reached 82. Should it not do the same now. I've constanly moved the dish, and it reads 101 W above the strength bars but no number appears. It keeps telling me to move the dish 3 degrees.

Re: [kimdom] Signal Lost [In reply to] Can't Post

Your sat dish must be aimed and locked on the sat to get a reading.

The reading is to tweak your signal strenghth after locating the sat.

Make sure all your connectors on the coax from the dish to receiver are connected tight. Then run a coax from your receiver to the tv.

You want to get the sat dish aimed at the sat and try get a signal,by using only coax you don't have to worry about a bad cable.Just keep moving the dish until you get a signal.

How do I check for the signal? Should I have the dish to dish pointing? I've never done this before. Thanks

First go here and find your longitude and latitude.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0001796.html

Then go here and enter the numbers

http://www.sadoun.com/...ading-Calculator.htm

This will give you the proper elevation, azimuth, and skew settings. The link has a picture of what each settings does.

Then just aim your dish towards the sat dish.

Make sure the mounting pole and bracket are plumb and level.

Re: [TANK1] Signal Lost [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks, but I'm in Canada. I have a general idea where it needs to be pointed. Only thing is to I keep it on dish pointing when I'm trying to find the signal or do I move it somewhere else. How will I know I've gotten the signal. Will the picture appear on the TV? Thanks for all your help.

If you go to link to find latitude and longitude,it has cities in Canada.Just use the city closest to you.

Then go to second link and plug those numbers.

Thanks. How will I know I'm getting the right signal? Should I leave the menu on dish pointing to find the picture. Will it just appear?
