Signal deterioating Can't Post

I'm curious if anyone knows anything about signal deterioation. I have a splitter that starts from the dish cable line. I've split the signal for two rooms. My boxes are both legal. I seem to loose channels in one of the rooms (bedroom) while the other room has never had any issues. When I loose these channels I mean lose them forever. If I move the box to the other room the signal returns. I've even taken the box to a friends house and it worked fine. I'm wondering if some cable amplification might be in order? If so can someone tell me what I would need to accomplish this and a ballpark figure on cost. Or perhaps there some screwy adjustment I can make and resolve the whole issue? Any input is appreciated.

A sat signal is different from a cable signal. You must use a 3x4 or 4x8 splitter for directv. If you are using basic 1 cable in 2 cables out splitter, that is your problem.
