Single wire multi switch for DVR

I just spoke with DirecTV about the possibility of running a Dual tuner DVR with one co-ax line in. I purchased a home with an island media center and it only has one line in from the Dish. The cost to install a new line is about $1600 with thousands more in touch ups.
The customer service rep said DirectTV has a way to get both tuners running by using a "single wire multi-switch."
This is new to me and I can tell if the rep was a newbie or if she really knew what was available.
Has anyone heard of this?
