Two Direct TV Dishes? Can't Post

When Direct TV messed with the local channels a couple of months back I lost them. I could get the pay channels fine but had no view of the sky where the local satellite was (trees). I had to run a cable 220 feet to get an unobstructed view and regain my local channels. The problem as you can guess is the signal strength has deteriorated (even though my local Direct TV installer said it would be ok). My question is this--can I have 2 dishes--one close for the pay channels and one far away for the local channels? Even though the local channels are not perfect because of the 220 ft run, they are still better than rabbit ears. Can I have a splitter and join the cables together before they enter my house? Can this signal be boosted? Help!!!!

Did you have the Total choice channels with no signal problems before the locals moved?

If you did then the installer should have left that dish in place and set up a second to get the locals from satellite at 72.5.

Did you go from a round dish to a oval dish when he moved the sat dish?

Was the install done recently? If it was call Directv and complain about the picture.

If it was done a couple of months a go,call Directv and ask for Customer retention dept they have the power to get things done.If your 1 year commitment is up tell Dish will give you a better offer.

You can combine two sat dishs from the same company (Directv or Dish) with a 4x8 switch. The switch has a built in amp.

Tank,

I had no signal problems before the locals moved. He never mentioned a second dish. He just said it would have to be moved the 220 ft. to a clear area to get all channels.

I already had the oval dish. That had been updated earlier. The dish move was done about a month and a half ago. He was supposed to come back and bury the cable but never did. I paid half up front (for the move and extra cable) and was to pay the other half upon completion of the job that was never done.

I have thought about going to Dish but wonder if Dish has local channels on the same sat or if I'm going to have the same trouble (receive one sat but can't see the other for the trees).

Where do you get a 4x8 switch? Will it combine the two signals automatically or will I have to switch back and forth from sat to sat?

Thanks.

Check the cable on the ground to see if it's quad-shield rg-6 cable. It will be a thicker cable than regular rg-6 cable. You need the quad shield for underground burial.

The switch can be found www.2000networks.com.

If you have the oval dish with three lnb's you should have more than one cable running to your house.
