Upgrade equipment Can't Post

Need some information. I'm interested in upgrading to hd dvr, and would like to know where I can get the best deal on equipment. I see direct has begin offering new hd dvr and 5 lnb dish in Atlanta.
What I have found so far is the best deals are given to new customers ($100 rebates online direct tv, Best Buy and Circuit City) that are not offered to existing customers.
I also see that hd programming is still pretty limited (7-8 channels) Is there going to be any added hd programming in next 6 months.
Thanks for any help.

Re: [lingo250] Upgrade equipment [In reply to] Can't Post

Directv has two sats to launch , so the best guess for a large amount of national hd channels is late 2007. They might add a single national HD before that.

If your commitment to Directv is up, call and ask for customer retention dept.
I would say " I enjoy Directv but I need to upgrade and I can get a great deal from Dish. Can you help me with any deals on equipment and programming ?

They always give you 6 months free on the HD package.
They usually give you the movers discount program- free installation of the new 5lnb sat dish.

Thanks Tank for the quick reply, My account is active and has been so for almost 10 years. I will try what you suggested, but I have NFL Sunday Tix so that may not work until Jan.
1 more Question what is the A-list program, just a gimmick ?
They recently sent me packet with promo's and special number. Would it be worthwhile to try this number for discounts on new machine.
Thanks

Not a gimmick but a way to inform csr's that you are a long time paying on time customer. I would definitely call that number and use any discount included in the packet.

Since you have been with D* so long, it shouldn't be a problem getting a free install on the new sat dish.

As for a price on HR 10-250 the HD DVR - I think it will be $299 that's the lowest price I have seen .
