hi. can i use a LCD monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 192n) and stero speakers for direct tv? what would i need or are lcd monitors and tv's diffrent.

Yes it will work IF you can connect it to Direct sat box.
What kind of connections do you have on the monitor?

DVI on the monitor and RCA on the speakers

DVI is video only,so for sound you need to connect something between sat box and speakers( a/v receiver,maybe your modem)

ok, yea the speakers are on an aux channel on a stereo.
so the directv box has a DVI output? will it work with hdtv?

If your sat box has a dvi out and your monitor has a dvi imput it will work but video only no sound.
