cheating direct tv?? Can't Post

A friend has told me that this scam works..... sounds 2 good to be true so I'm looking for input.

Person #1 lives in PA..... sets up a direct tv account in NYC...... using a family members address

If person #1 takes the equiptment he purchased in NYC to PA will he be able to get the NYC locals in the PA area?

How could this be?????

The big 4 networks from NY and LA are on a CONUS beam. That means the signal covers the whole USA.

Networks ( local channels) from all the other cities are on spot beam. They only cover a certain limited area.

If you use a NY address and take receiver back to PA you will get ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX,MSG,YES from NY.

So yes it can be done, but remember that NY makes your new local area for sports channels and teams.

Direct tv has no measures in place to prevent this, or is it that they simply don't care.

They're gettin money either way right?

They don't encourage it,but yes they are still getting your money every month.

Why do you want the NY channels?

I really have no use for the whole nfl sunday ticket thing..... although I'll be unbearable if I don't get to watch the giants play.

OK your good to go then.I thought everyone in your area was a Steeler fan,I didn't want you to realize Sunday that they were not your local team anymore.

Enjoy your Giant games.
