D* HD channels are broadcast in 720p and 1080i . The networks decide which they use. Some broadcast in 720p and some in 1080i.

There will be no networks using 1080p in the near future , and D* will not transmit in 1080p for a very long time.

Only HD dvds are using 1080p , no cable or sat company is using 1080p .

I did my home theatre 3 years ago and some of the features that my denon receiver has just came available to use this year. So 1080p is some time off in the future.
