direct tv without the reciever? Can't Post

I just moved into my parents basment where they have cable jack. They have direct tv in two rooms of the house. I was wondering If I could plug my coax cable into the cablejack and get the direct tv channels?
I did this with my comcast account. My roomate had no comcast box but he got the channels but no "on demand" , and no menu. I had one box for the living room and had all the cable jacks active in the house.
Is it the same for direct tv??

No it will not work because there is no signal from the D* receiver going thur the cables in the wall.

what is the D* reciever? I have cables coming from the satellite dish to a four pronged (for lack of a better term splitter) and two cables going into the house from there. There are also 2 extra coax cables not in use. (im assuming those go to the rest of the house. If I plug those in will I get signal? then can I plug my coax cable into the wall and run it into my tv? Sorry Im very new at this...

That thing you described should be called a multiswitch
