searching for satellite Can't Post

hi im new to this board but im having a direct tv problem. i keep getting searching for sattelite message on only one of my tv's. i have two receivers and the bedroom is ok. living room is giving me prob. called dtv many times abou t this. first ive unplugged everything about 100 times . doesnt fix it. ive switched boxes. doesnt matter which receiver i use i get same problem. they told me to check sattelite strength under menu. seems lilke only odd #'s get strength in 90's. even #'s get 0 strength. now i get searching for satellite when the system is going to reboot so i cant even get any tv cause receiver wont reboot. now dtv is going to send somebody to my house sat morning but its 70 bucks . anyway does anybody know what my problem may be. seems to me the incoming wire might be messed up. any help would be appreciated. thankyou!

Did you split the incoming wire for the two tvs? (Did you run one wire into the house and then split it?)

Recheck all connectors on the black rg-6 wire.

Did both tv's ever both Directv before or is this a new installation job?

You should two black rg-6 wires running from the sat dish, one for each tv.

this was installed 3 years ago. never had this problem until recently (about a month) . now im not real technical about this stuff. but i checked wire from dish (dish is onmy deck). seems they have one wire going to my living room and then one wire going to my bedroom. but they it looks like they hooked the satellite wire up to an old cable wire that was there. so i think thats the wire that went bad. like i said im not real technical but thats what it looks like to me.

Take the receiver that works and try it in the room with a problem. If it doesn't work then you know it is a cable problem because you already know the sat reciever is good.

It proably is that old cable, just pickup a rg-6 coax cable with connectors on already if you don't feel comfortable connecting them yourself.

You can get a service policy from Directv. If you prepay for the whole year it take effort from day 1.Cheaper than a sevice call.
