searching for signal Can't Post

Over the last several months I have been increasingly getting "Searching for Signal" and a black screen. It seems to be happening intermittently and randomly; both even and odd channels. If I go to channel 490 and 491 it has no message (black screen). I purchase a new cable and ran it from the antenna Dual LNB to the receiver and had the same results so the wiring is fine. I tried both connections on the LNB and both had the same problem. The only things left are a bad Dual LNB or receiver. I performed a cold boot and notice when I removed the access card it was lightly discolored on one side. It was browned like something overheated inside the receiver lightly burning/cooking the plastic card. How do I test to determine what has failed.

So you get nothing on any channels ? Did the dish get moved by wind ?

Do you have a 2nd receiver in another room that is active you can switch ? This would rule out all cables and lnb if the other receiver worked.
I have never heard of a discolored access card, did you have a lightning hit or spike in power? Or does the receiver over heat ?

A replacment access card is $20, you just call Directv and ask for one. But if the problem is not the card you are out the $20.

A new basic receiver with the new card is $49.99 from Best Buy.
