starting to despise DIRECTV Can't Post

My problem is exactly what GARYDESANTO posted on Dec 13.

I'm having problems with my bedroom TV and my living room TV. My living room box is a Samsung HD box. I receive satellite signal on this TV great with no problems. However, my digital over air local channels are hit and miss. I get digital channels (2-1, 11-1, 13-1) in the morning but not at night.

My bedroom TV is just the opposite. I can't seem to ever get satellite reception in the mornings. For the most part, nighttime is fine. I have two more receivers in two other bedrooms that have no problems.

I've done everything. Yes, everything. Reboot, reset, switch boxes, different cables, called DirecTV and went through all the settings. DirecTV sent out a service tech (TWICE) and he said he has never seen this type of problem before. He replaced a few parts and even installed a power booster. According to him, he believed the receiver wasn't locking onto the signal for some reason but he didn't know why or how to fix it.

Why do I get my digital signal in the morning but not at night? And on my upstairs TV, why do I get satellite signal at night but not in the morning? All while getting perfect reception on all my other TV's. And why all of a sudden?

What happens at night to cause you lose one sat box and ota channels?

Do you get extreme cold temps,or windy at night?

For the problem to only happen at night, something must be happening at night and changing back during the day.

Condensation in the F-connectors and coax cable?Builds up overnight and no signal in the morning and then dries out during the day.So you get a signal at night for the Directv box.

Does your local stations reduce power ( so signal can't travel as far) in the evenings?

Also swap the Directv receiver with the on that dosen't work during the day.If it doesn't work in one room, but when connected in the other room and works.

You know the problem is not the receiver but something else.If it doesn't then you know you have a faulty receiver box.

My first post here gee.

I have a round dish with duel lnb, 2 into 4 multi switch, one sony sat a-55 and one sony sat b-55. The a-55 receiver. When I first hooked up the signal was about 85 or so but would fluxuate 5 points and then every once in a while go to zero for a split second then come back. I put a ground wire on the multi swith to the neutral panel of my swithch box and both recievers got 85 signal both odd and even like a rock. Worked good for about three months, now the b-55 only, gets the fluxuation like before, but not all the time usually only after 7pm at nite and not every nite. I wiggle the gound wire, loosen, tighten connections, problem goes away. its sure one big mystery, I am replacing the b-55 with an a-55 i bought on ebay. the other a-55 i have never has a problem. I still think the biggest improvement was adding the ground wire, and by the way i do have the dish grounded outside with an 8'x.5'' ground rod.
