using a TV as monitor Can't Post

Hello all. This is my first post. I ahve been sniffing around here relentlessly the past few weeks with no results to what I have been looking for. So here goes.

What is the deal with using your PC to capture cable or satellite reception? I first read it in PC Magazine that said ''Free HD on your PC" which meant ALL channels, PPV, movie channels, etc. But I am still unclear. Do you still need an active basic subscription to cable or satellite to use as a base in order to get the reception on your pc? Also, couldn't you hook up your PC to use your HDTV as a monitor via either HDMI or DVI and then get all the channels on your TV?

To receive Directv HD you need a slimline 5 lnb sat dish and a HD receiver or HD DVR.
There is no way besides stealing to get Directv HD programs for free.

You can use some HDTV as monitors , but you can't get free Directv on them.
