How To Properly Update Keys For Married Sub or Married ExSub AVR Requirements: Jeepersdx 2.07 or Jeepersdx 2.10 (note 2.08 is not an official version release, therefore it may be buggy and not work). An internet connection. An AVR with Atmel AT90S8515 chip PC Running Windows 95, 98, 98SE, 98ME, NT4, 2K, XP The ability to follow instructions. This document assumes that you have used Jeepers to program an AVR before and know the latest programs for testing. If that is not the case, then you need to do some research to see what programs you need for your testing setup. If you follow these directions to a "Tee" you should have no problems updating Keys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can download files for AVR programming at KickinChicken. And Please VOTE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow this method for updating keys if you "DID NOT" freak out an change the Public Key or put the Dish Network Smart Card in the IRD alone after a Key Change: Remove AVR from the IRD, remove CAM from the AVR & DO NOT put the CAM in IRD!! Plug AVR up to computer & open Jeepers 1. Click READ to verify the information on the AVR is correct. 2. Click GET in the Keys Section to get the latest Keys. 3. Click WRITE to finish it up. Finally return CAM to AVR and AVR to IRD & you are done. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's it ! You now have updated the Keys the easy way (if you followed the instructions 100%). Now if are one of those people that wigged out when the channels went black & either updated the Public Key or put the CAM back in IRD after a Key Change you need to proceed with this tutorial. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now this portion is for those of you that have freaked out and either updated the Public Key or put the CAM back in IRD after a Key Change. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, now you have goofed and did it wrong. Time to correct it & make sure you correct it right. First order of buisness if you have already done a Full Monty with the correct program (ie. MCG308) then YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO A FULL MONTY everytime! To save wear-n-tear on the Atmel, do this instead 1.) click ACTION & 2.) click WRITE EEPROM, (this is assuming you are a dead head and havent learned by now how to update keys & want to burn out your Atmel). With that little tid bit of info out of the way lets get your AVR working again. If you updated the public key on the AVR: just put the CAM in the IRD "alone" (Meaning NO AVR), on a Preview Channel (most common is 101), for a few minutes so it can update the CAM with the newsest Keys as well. If you put the CAM in IRD alone after a key change: you then need to update the Public with the "Latest Active Key". Then return CAM to AVR and AVR to IRD & you are done. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now next time I bet you will do it the simpler, correct way! You now know what to do & not to do in the event of a key change (that is if you followed the instructions 100%). dudeman316
