Bad horizon question Can't Post

I tried to get Dish for my home, but the tech that came to install could not find a place on my property that allowed a clear signal. The problem is a large tree in my next door neighbor's front yard that effectively blocks the signal. Is there any way to overcome this problem short of cutting down the tree? Or am I terminally stuck with cable (yuck)? The cable in my area is just on the verge of becoming too expensive to justify.

The small digital sat dishes cannot have any obstructions. Dishnet installers are usually pretty lazy as far as options as they only get a flat rate pay per install so will not get into more advanced installations. Options are sometimes setting the dish up on a pole cemented in the ground clearing the obstruction or perhaps since your neighbors tree is in they way you might work something out that they would let you have the dish setup on their property. You can usually get away with up to about a 150 foot cable run. Dish runs at 119 west for the main and 110 west for the secondary. Another possibilty is Direct tv whose sat is at 101 west and may be enough to clear the tree also.

Hope the info helps out and good luck.

Merry Xmas.
