Is it Dish?Akai?or incorrect installation

We have a Akai 42 inch given to us new by our children when our old TV went out which was cabled to DISH. We live in remote area and finally got it cabled correctly (OR DID WE) It is a LCT42Z6TM
The initial screen and all subsequent choices are fuzzy, lined and impossible to make out. Remote works on channel changes and this goes on for a period of time until the picture quality clears. It like a "warm up"
This happens every time, but sometimes during this warm upif you will the set goes off and we have to power up again. This can and does happen frequently the going off and having to be powered up again.
The warm up occurs all the time. And the reason I call it this is if the set has been on a while and picture is clear and I turn off the set, then back on it goes directly to a clear picture again.
We are old, live in a remote area so need advice as if it needs repair we need to lug it 50 miles. Awaiting any advice or suggestions
