Digital tv w/o converter box

I wish to purchase a big-screen tv (around 40") for my mother who is 79. She is still sharp, but she has a problem with remote controls, so I want to simplify things as much as possible. I want to get her a tv that can receive and display digital and hi-def signals, but I don't want to have to connect to a converter box (Comcast is her cable service) in order to receive digital and hi-def signals, as that would entail another device that has to be turned on and operated. It would be best for her to work off of one remote handling one device (the tv). Therefore, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me what features I must make sure are in the tv for her to be able to receive hi-def channels without using a converter box. Thank you.
