Mitsubishi VS-50609 - Screens turns green and tv turns off constantly

Can anyone please help me with my 2 year old Mitsubishi Big Screen VS-50609 - 50 inch. Starting about 2 weeks ago my tv screen picture started turning green and my tv turns off when this happens. This happens all the time and is slowly progressively getting worse. If you bump the side of the TV when the picture looks good it will go green and turn off. Sometimes the picture will also turn green several times before ultimately shutting off. My swears that she smells something burning when this happens alot. I have called my authorized Mitsubishi dealer where I bought the tv 2 years ago. My dealer wants to rake me through the coals immediately before they even look at it and I cant afford it since I have twins on the way and already have one child. I didnt expect this to happen and this is 1 of our only 2 tv's. Can somebody please help me out with this, thanks, Bill L.
