I've owned this TV since new for about 4 years. Up till now, it's been great. In the last week, the red has suddenly gone outta whack. Here's a couple screen shots:
When I try to adjust the convergence on the red, I can get it to go up and down - but not left and right.
I've heard horror stories of people paying thousands and thousands to fix these TVs. I called a repair shop and they quoted $300 to come out and replace a couple chips on one of the boards. Before I create a money pit, I'd like to know if there's anything possible for the user to fix. My competency level is adequate to assemble computers, reflow solder...but I can't diagnose electrical problems to save my life.
Any suggestions?
