Pioneer SD-P457....the image is wavy

Pioneer SD-P457 projection screen tv. When I power on in the tuner mode, the image is wavy (similar to a filtered cable channel). After two minutes everything clears up and works perfectly. It only occurs at startup. If I power up in video or LD mode, the image is fine. The tv was purchased new in '94. No repair has ever been required.
