This 1999 TV recently decided to give me three distinct images. I suspect convergence is gone. Anyone know if this is just a board replacement, and is there any tricky convergence procedure required after replacement - do I need a service manual?

An over the phone question to a repair shop said it would probably cost $600 to repair - so trying to find a cheaper repair alternative.

If anyone has any experience in this area, would be interested to hear how it turned out - was repair successful and did it last?

I have a Toshiba TP61G90 with the same problem. This is the third time it has happened to me. The first 2 times they replaced the digital convergance board.
I'm debating if I should get it fixed or not. I've been looking on the web for any info on this. It dosen't appear to be a common issue with my model anyways. Guess I got a lemon.
Anyone wanna buy a TP61G90 that needs a new digital convergance board?

I have had a TV repair shop in the past, and a good friend of mine still has his TV shop and my big screen Toshiba has this problem, he said that the conver board just needs a good resoldier job and maybe a couple of Caps replaced, the ones he has seen come thru his shop n the past has just needed to be soldiered on. Hope this helps, not to say this will diffently fix the problem as I have not done mine yet, but this is a easy way to see if it fixes the problem. I will try and repost the outcome of mine afterwards
