Sony DVP-NS400D - Won't power up

Hi,
My DVD player died on me the other day. While watching a movie it quit and kept going to standby every time I tried to start it back up.
This evening, I foolishly opened the case to see if it was something obvious and now it won't power up at all. Have I triggered some sort of safety device or is it dead?
