What to replace by VCR with Can't Post

My VCR, for recording and playing back programs is beginning to give trouble.
What should I replace it with? I dont record programs often, so the volume of programs would not be large - so I dont need something greatly expensive with great capacity.
Can you advice on what I should be looking for?

(i access TV through a free to air box)

You don't say whether TV is NTSC or ATSC tuner equipped, but if you currently need a free to air box (you don't define that either - satellite or digital to analog).

Here are only two possibilities (they have many others):

Not sure what NTSC or ATSC. It is a Panasonic TV, Model TX-32A300B. I live in Ireland. We have changed over from analogue to digital. I have two boxes. One is connected to Satellite disk (gets most international free to air stations). The other box is connected to an Antennae, and gets me some of the local stations. But these local stations, I am told, are now digital.
